About this role

Procure on Demand is looking to hire contract perfusionists to join our team. Your role will include preparation and utilization of a mini-bypass circuit, coordination with procurement surgeons, effective communication with multiple healthcare professionals, and management of physiologic parameters during organ retrieval. Perfusionist will travel to different hospitals and donation centers at one’s discretion to perform required duties. No DCD NRP experience required.No contractual minimum requirements.

Essential Functions

The NRP Organ Procurement Perfusionist operates devices utilized during cardiopulmonary bypass for circulatory support, specifically during the organ retrieval process. Perfusionist will provide case support within geographic regions and beyond.

Provides safe and effective management of extracorporeal support during organ retrieval.

Responsible for the selection of appropriate equipment and techniques to be used during organ retrieval.

Demonstrates competence in the practice of perfusion through an understanding of necessary variables: arterial blood gases, hemoglobin level, volume management, cardiac index or output, electrolytes, and temperature.

Ability to operate, use, and interpret data from a wide variety of equipment to perform perfusion care and organ management.

Maintains thorough perfusion records before, during and after pump run, recording pump data, laboratory values and activated clotting times. Monitors and records necessary vital signs such as blood flow rates, blood volume, gas flow rates, oxygenation, and temperature during bypass.

Completes safety checklists and records other data forms when relevant.

Disassembles equipment, inspects, cleans, and reassembles equipment and ensures that it is properly stored. Prepares appropriate equipment for sterilization.

Prepares appropriate equipment for each case using accepted sterile technique.

Assembles solutions and drugs to be used during bypass.

Qualifications

·       Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion

·       Bachelor’s Degree and Completion of an Accredited Perfusion Program

·       Organ Procurement Experience (recommended)

·       High-stress/high-acuity case load experience (recommended)
